Brenig
Kington Folk Club Presents :-
Music from 1pm
Brenig
Brenig are Daniel Laws (vocals, acoustic guitar, dulcimer) and Mandy Martin (vocals, acoustic guitar, mandolin). Formed nearly 15 years ago and based in Aberystwyth, Brenig performs their own original folk songs and tunes in traditional and contemporary style. The songs and tunes have been composed by Daniel. He draws on his experiences and observation growing up and living in rural mid wales to weave together stories of welsh folklore, traditions, social history, the countryside and love. Wonderfully descriptive lyrics, harmonies, choruses to sing along with and a light sprinkling of humour.

O'r Galon
Kington Folk Club presents:- O’r Galon
O'r Galon started out as a project to record some of Les Coveney's own songs, but we became a performing band playing those songs and others and some tunes as well. Alongside Les on guitar and vocals are Andrea Jackman on flutes and whistle, David Jackman on harmonicas, and Ian Jones on banjo and cello. Original music - from the heart.

FiddleBop
Kington Folk Club presents FiddleBop.
FiddleBop plays Gypsy jazz, re-imagined for the 2020s! On violin, Spanish guitar, keyboard, and fretless bass. And we sing too, with four voices in harmony. We love what we play, and it shows!
Wales-based FiddleBop's take on Gypsy jazz music is sophisticated but isn't stuffy or pretentious. Is danceable and exciting but not rhythmically boring. Has plenty of go-for-it improvised solos but is still tuneful and melodic. All with a dash of — or sometimes a bit more — fun and good humour.
Like the first Gypsy jazz bands, FiddleBop's "Gypsy jazz re-imagined" is highly eclectic. In the 1930s, the Quintette du Hot Club de France created amazing music based on current and past pop tunes, traditional Gypsy melodies, their own compositions, even some J S Bach... so FiddleBop's repertoire is similarly wide-ranging. We play Gypsy-flavoured jazz drawn from all of the genre's century-long history. That's get-up-and-dance jazz from the 1920s, 1930s chilli-hot swing and cool post-bop. Plus jazz-infused classic pop, folk-jazz, and our own creations.
So what ties all this together? Why, our love of this wonderful music, with its Gypsy-style zing, passion and joie de vivre!

Kington Folk Club Summer Social
Please join us for a summer social in the barn & courtyard at the Oxford Arms, Duke Street Kington Herefordshire ( Open Arms Kington ) on Saturday 10th August. Bar open from 6pm with pop up kitchen from @LovelySpudly.
The format will be similar to that of the usual Folk Club so bring your instruments if you’d like to play. There will be a small PA which we will use, as last year there was some issues with people not being able to hear very well especially outside of the barn.
We will have 2 x microphones and 2 x Di boxes. if you need anything else please bring it yourself as it will not be provided. The organisers of Kington Folk Club are usually busy all day so please make sure you bring assistance if you need it.
Please note that there is no parking on site during the evening so arrive early if you need to unload and move your car.
If you have any questions or special requirements please let us know by the 5th of August as we’ll not be able to facilitate any last minute heroics on the day. Sorry for all the admin but hopefully it’ll help things go smoothly on the day.
Last year was a wonderful evening with excellent performances and fun had by all, we’re looking forward to another one.
Many thanks from the KFC team.
